Ocean Friends

This past weekend, I got the joy of spending time with my oldest daughter, Kati, and youngest granddaughter, Sammi.  She plays on the NorCal Surf Select team and was at a soccer showcase here in the Vegas area.  It was amazing and fun watching her play. Hoping college coaches will notice her intensity and skill.  Saturday was a beautiful day to be outside.  Sunday was a completely different story---windy-windy-windy!  Mike and I must truly love our granddaughter to endure the wind all day!

That has nothing to do with today's card, just wanted to share my weekend.  Hope yours was better than mine!  Host Code for March is XT9ZZ63K

I've never seen a blue lobster, but have heard they are rare and exist.  I wonder if they stay blue when cooked.  The Ocean Friends Bundle and Friends of the Ocean Designer Paper are two beautiful products (from Debbie Henderson) that I just had to have. It's a fun and bright card to make and give to someone.

Making this card:

  • Card Base: Boho Blue Cardstock 11 x 4-1/4". Score and fold at 5-1/2".
  • Layer 2: Friends Of The Ocean Designer Paper 4 x 2"
  • Layer 3: Lemon Lime Twist Cardstock 4-1/4 x 3". Glue at an angle at the top left.
  • Layer 4: Basic White Cardstock 4-1/4 x 3".
    • Stamp the sentiment at the top right with Calypso Coral Ink.
    • Stamp the coral with Lemon Lime Twist Ink. Some without reinking for a lighter color.
    • Stamp the waves at the bottom on each side with Boho Blue Ink. Some without reinking for a lighter color.
    • Lobster: Stamp Outline Lobster on Basic White Cardstock with Blueberry Bushel Ink. Stamp the solid lobster with the same ink color but stamp off first for a lighter color. Cut with the die and adhere to the white layer with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Stamp the bubbles around the lobster with Blueberry Bushel Ink. Use the inked lines with a Blender Pen to add color.
    • Glue white layer to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals at the bottom right and at an angle.

Beautiful Bokeh

It's a beautiful Sunday, so why not feature the Beautiful Bokeh Suite with a Beautiful Butterfly.  Our very own Kelly Acheson, A Stamp Above, created this card and even show a YouTube video showing how to make it.  Being a visual learner, it was perfect for me.  Enjoy the rest of your day and have an amazing week.  Oh, and SaleaBration ends on Friday.  Think about joining SU as a "hobby demo" and get those extra goodies. (Sadly, the SAB paper I used is sold out).

Simple Birthday

Looking for a quick and easy birthday card??  This is it!!  The Simple Birthday stamp will make it simpler for you.  I used Stampin' Spots on the stamps.  You can use whatever colors appeal to you.  You can make your own "spots" by using unlinked spots and reinkers.  Hint--use the lighter ink first.  I pulled the colors from the DSP used.  Colors are listed on the back of the DSP package.  In this case, I used SAB paper Bloom Impressions (a FREEBIE with a $60 purchase).  Each card came out a bit different because of how the spots were stamped.

Delightful Wishes Suite--A Must Have!

I'm ready for Spring--are you?  Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow yesterday, predicting 6 more weeks of Winter.  I hope he's wrong this year!  The Delightful Wishes Suite has most everything you need to create Spring-Minded cards.  This card, from Madetocreatewithlisa.com, is a different kind of fun fold card.  Start with a 4-1/4 x 11" card base, scored at 5-1/2".  Cut off 2" from the score line and cut another 2x4" piece from the scrap.  Watch her video for more details.

This card is sunny and bright--come on Spring!!!  Here's a link to the suite.

As I get ready for my classes next week, I knew I had to use the Darling Dinos Bundle!!  It's a great masculine card--especially for boys.  My two grandsons are going to love it.  They're all about Dinos!  Thanks Lynn Dunn for a great idea. You can add all sorts of accessories to the Dinos to dress it up. Isn't it so cute?
